So Damen usually does FSC (fast support craft) which is basically just ships that take crew and gear out to off-shore oil platforms. They need to be speedy, good in rough seas and be able to carry a big load. This looks to be one of those exactly, just fancied up. Their AXE bow design is a little funky but it works because it doesn’t have a sharp increase in buoyancy like a traditional bow so you don’t come slamming into a wall co ming off a wave, plus it moves the center of buoyancy towards the center for a better pitch moment.

Damen b uilds all sorts of vessels. From fast f erries to tiny push tugs!

It’s definitely similar to an offshore platform supply vessel (but with a helipad) and mixing in the multi purpose elements to handle the boats .

It looks to be a different hull than the Multi Purpose 8316 though.

Kind of. The people with this much money it’s more of an auxiliary support vessel to carry all their toys.

The whole super/mega yachts have had capabilities to launch small craft, but it takes up space.

I sort of think of it like if you had a luxury A-Class RV/Motor-coach and instead of towing or transporting a car with it, you just brought your own semi truck car carrier full of vehicles, valets, and mechanics with you on travels. This is the equivalent to the car carrier.

Pretty much this. It’s a smaller MSV without a crane. 83M is a big ass PSV/OSV and the accommodations are usually for far fewer people. It looks to be based off their Construction vessel which is just an MSV/ ROV support vessel with an aft heli deck as opposed to a foredeck pad. Prettier I guess, but no more capable.
